About Mark
I'm a designer, I'm an entrepreneur, I've been a writer, I've stacked shelves in retail, I've led operations, I've been a co-founder, I've stuck at things, I've moved on from things, I can be an opportunist, I've worked a petrol pump, I've spent a quarter of a century in south London, I've missed opportunities, I've built software, I have a family, I used to travel a lot, I'm getting on a bit and I have a yearning to be honest.
Alright, but really?
My name's Mark and I'm trying to plot my way through the woods and out into the beautiful sunlit uplands of success. The challenge is that I'm usually very bad at sharing who I am, what I do and why I'm doing it. That's why I'm here trying to get the better of those shortcomings, and to tell the stories about where I've got to.

You want more detail?
- I spent years as a designer at umpteen London agencies.
- I co-founded UBIO, the web automation company.
- I've written a couple of long stories, but I don't really talk about that. Perhaps I should.
- My first job was for that bastion of British news retail, John Menzies. I earned £1.99 an hour.
- My most recent real job was for a law firm.
- I live in beautiful Camberwell.
- Several of the countries I travelled to years ago are considered too dangerous to go to these days. I was briefly held hostage in one of them.
- I don't think I'm so old, but I have passed the mid-century mark.
- I've only made a habit of studying things beginning with 'p' and those include philosophy, politics, and photography.
The AI promise
I've spent hours chatting with Claude and others, but none of the written blog content here has been written with or by AI. All of it has been produced by me, usually by muttering at my machine.
